Earth Action

Learn one species that belongs where you live

Identify one plant, insect or bird and find out what it needs. Recognizing a species is a registered learning action, not a verified conservation outcome.

  • Easy
  • 25 minutes
  • Costs nothing
  • Any season
  • Indoors or outdoors

How

  1. Choose a species you can see without disturbing it.
  2. Find out whether it belongs in the area, using a reliable guide or public authority.
  3. Write one sentence about what it needs: shelter, food, or to be left alone.
  4. Register the species name if you want. Do not plant anything in this step.
Safety

Do not pick protected plants. Do not capture animals. Do not plant anything you cannot identify with confidence, or where you do not know it is allowed.

Accessibility

Reading and a note of your own. No outing is required.

Expected evidence

The expected evidence is a level 1 registration. No measurement method is approved for this action.

Register that I have done it

This becomes level 1, a registered action. It does not become a verified result.
